Every pet lover goes under panic when he or she brings a new
kitten at home and doesn’t know what name to it. Many of you look for pet names
in famous pet movies, TV serials, pet magazines, and pet names websites while
others want to name their pets after royal pets, famous celebrity pets, and
popular pets of the world.
Vetstreet.com has done a great job in this case. Recently, it
published a list of top ten most popular kitten names of 2012. A huge data of
around 643,000 kitten names (who were named in 2012) was collected and analyzed
to conclude the top pet names of 2012. This study also showed that there was no
big difference in name trending as in last year’s list. Very few new names came
up in the list of famous pet names of 2012.

- Pet lovers like the traditional pet names the most like ever before. This can be clearly seen in the top ten famous kitten names’ list released by the Vetstreet.com. This also shows that traditional pet naming trends such as Tiger and Smokey have no less value even in this technology era. It still has own charisma, attraction, and appeal.
- Pet owners love to call out their pets after names of famous movie pets, novel pets, and top selling book pets. The reason behind this trend is, pet lovers want to see their pets with the same characteristics, attitude, and qualities. Therefore, pet naming trend for characteristics will never lose its charm, enchantment, and seduction.
- Naming pets after human names is a very old style, but it never comes to an end. Psychology behind this dominating pet naming trend is, pet lovers want to give their pets a true family place and position. They don’t want to have any difference between their kids and pets. Therefore, they name their kittens after Max, Jasper, Oliver, Charlie, Lucy, Sophie, Bella, Lily, and Lilly.
It is heartening that new names to pets are on rise and the
trend of new and unique naming to pets is getting popularity day by day. Notable
newcomers are:
- Willow,
- Katniss,
- Oscar,
- Louie,
- Stella,
- Loki,
- Thor, and etc.
Though, they all are notable names in human world, but they
are on the rise in the list of famous pet names.

ReplyDeleteThen, of course, there are the names I hate! Like MUFFY, DIGBY (and anything ending in "by"), MOBY (yes, they actually stuck a guide dog with that name! Same litter as Muffy), Boobie (my neighbor's dog), Wanger (I could have smacked someone for that one!).
Remember, these dogs have to LIVE WITH what they are called -- not that THEY care all that much, but... hey, somebody has to stand up for their dignity (lol!).
KELISE... a gorgeous harlequin faced tortoishell female. Her name is as unique as she is. We made it up.
